JOB SUMMARY: This position will handle procurement, bidding proposals and submissions, and having constant contract with project owners and prospective subcontractors. Construction estimator is the liaison to the project owner and the primary point of contact for the owner’s consultants during the early phases of the project. Estimators needs are organized, technically proficient in quantity takeoffs, able to think creatively, and love to communicate. A day’s work passes by very quickly as they establish the critical path and scrutinize the small details of a planned project. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for the management of all plan and specifications, estimating activities in a way that maximizes the total profitability of the entire company. • Manage the pricing validation process for negotiated work and pricing of change proposals. • Attend buyout meetings, provide status on negotiations with potential subcontractors and updates on subcontracts. • Develop methods to supply data and information to other departments to maximize effectiveness. • Effective bid leveling by reviewing subcontractor/vendor selection as well as scopes with Area Managers and others, as needed to ensure scope coverage for estimates. • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and change proposals. • Consulting with Business Development and Estimating on selection of jobs to bid. • Review specifications, scopes, and vendor/subcontractor proposals to ensure accurate scope coverage and bid leveling. • Regularly consult with the estimating team and manager during beginning stage of individual assignments to ensure strategy is being followed. • Provide estimates for projects in the conceptual stage of others. • Update changes to material and labor factors used for bidding in estimating software. • Responsible for reviewing estimates for potential jobs, and preparing change orders and cost estimates. • Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid. • Execute take-offs of construction documents. • Obtains pricing for materials and bids from subcontractors. • Maintain up to date knowledge of material costs, customer trends, and latest product information. • Must manage the proposal process and ensure all requirements are met for a successful proposal submissions to the client. • Providing conceptual estimates without much information provided. • Provide hard bid lump sum competitive estimates. • Attend pre-bid conferences. • Meeting or beating deliverable deadlines. Position Specific Duties: Operate chairlifts within the guidelines of Washington State tramway safety committee rules and ansi b77 code books. Required to conduct Daily, Weekly, and monthly inspections for any existing or potential problems, to maintain and repair lifts according to prescribed procedures see maintenance manuals. Must be able to open assigned lifts for operation: Turning on main power (480 vac), turn on low voltage, perform all stop and safety checks at all stations, check all fluids at stations including primary, secondary, spacing gear boxes, brakes, hydraulic tension, apu and tertiary reservoirs, battery fluid levels and so forth. Perform drive checks: checking all machinery and mechanical parts of the drive station, including primary drive, auxiliary drive, primary, secondary, and spacing gear boxes, fluid levels, batteries, terminal sheaves, tires, belts, brake pads, hoses, and so forth. Perform return checks: check carriage position, tension systems, terminal sheaves, tires, belts, hoses, batteries, and so forth. Maintain a clean and effective working environment for self and staff. Ability to ski or snowboard. Ability to operate vehicles, snow mobiles, and ATVs. Reports to Nick Clutter, Director of Lift Operations.
