Experienced Outboard Engine Mechanic candidates must be able to: identify, diagnose and repair two and four stroke outboard engines and boat systems which include electrical systems, plumbing and rigging. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds • Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment • Install and test sanitation, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories • Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components • Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required • Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems • Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to: electrical, electronics, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), and gas engines • Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets • Must possess own tools • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or equivalent preferred • Technical school training preferred • Prior experience preferred • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder • Must carry own tools • Ability to work in confined spaces • Ability to lift 50 pounds • Basic boat handling skills preferred • Clean driver’s license MINIMUM SOFT SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Positive attitude and willingness to learn • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers' needs • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team context • Organizational skills are a must • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and work unsupervised
