Overview:
As a commercial driver for our heavy-duty repair shop, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient transportation of vehicles, parts, and equipment to various locations as needed. This position requires a high level of flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction. This position is local to Portland, Oregon with a potential driving radius up to 300 miles.
Responsibilities:
Vehicle Transportation:
⢠Operate commercial vehicles including heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other specialized equipment to transport vehicles, parts, and equipment to and from customer locations, suppliers, and other facilities.
⢠Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
Route Planning, Navigation, process adherence:
⢠Must have ability to utilize technology and scan QR codes.
⢠Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and maximize fuel.
⢠Communicate with dispatch and management to provide updates on route progress, estimated arrival times, and any deviations from planned routes.
⢠Understand and execute internal and external procedures on how to pick up and drop off a unit and store that unit in all production and parking facilities.
Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
⢠Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing priorities, last-minute requests, and unexpected challenges.
⢠Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills to address on-the-road issues, such as mechanical breakdowns, traffic delays, route changes while minimizing disruptions and ensuring timely delivery.
⢠Collaborate with dispatch, mechanics, and other team members to troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions in real-time.
Customer Service:
⢠Interact professionally with customers and suppliers providing courteous and prompt service.
⢠Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and requests with tact and diplomacy. Strive to exceed customer expectations and build strong relationships.
Safety and Compliance:
⢠Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing commercial driving.
⢠Maintain a clean driving record and comply with company policies and procedures.
⢠Report any accidents, incidents, or safety violations promptly and accurately.
Qualifications:
⢠Valid CDL (Commercial Driverâs License) Class A required.
⢠Clean driving record with no history of major violations or accidents.
⢠1 to 3 years of commercial driving experience
⢠Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and focused on high-pressure situations.
⢠Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
⢠Commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service excellence.
