Description

Job description: Looking to hire a experienced senior level building maintenance technician. Experience in Maintenance of commercial properties. Must have a knowledge and understanding of electrical, plumbing, basic HVAC / boilers, carpentry and painting skills. Past work experience in the trades or as a handyman would be very beneficial. Job description will be to oversee the maintenance of 2 smaller commercial buildings in the Anchorage, AK area. This will include overseeing the mechanical rooms, implementing a maintenance schedule, coordinating with subcontractors when necessary. The majority of the time the job will be during normal business hours, however there are times that work has to be performed at night or on the weekends. $28-30hr / DOE. Job Description This position carries out those activities required to maintain and correct damage and make repairs to physical buildings, structures, and facilities as well maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, and cleaning equipment of assigned facilities. Additionally, this person will do a variety of work involving equipment use such as scissor lifts and necessitate regularly working from ladders. Responsibilities Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Current electrician's certificate of fitness is preferred. Regular day shift, M-F but position may involve on call, night, weekend work or emergency call outs on an as needed basis. This position may require approximately 50% travel out of Anchorage area to other Alaska locations. Some overnight travel is required. Carries out the additional duties of all around facilities maintenance worker, some other duties and responsibilities this position may require are as follows: Repairs damage to walls and flooring Repairs door, locks and exit hardware Minor plumbing Repairs Repairs conveyor belts and systems Drywall installation/repairs, painting Cleans work area, tools, and equipment. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned. Qualifications A high school diploma or GED equivalent. 5 years of directly related facilities and/or building maintenance experience with electrical experience. State of Alaska electricians’ license/certificate of fitness is preferred. Valid Alaska Driver’s License with three (3) years acceptable driving record to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy. Applicants must have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
