Do you like to work independently in a unique home environment? We are looking for a professional companion/attendant/guide/mentor to work individually one-on-one with a lovely woman who has an intellectual disability. This is in Novato, one-on-one in her beautiful private townhome. Just contact us if you are interested! HERE IS THE FANTASTIC AVAILABLE SHIFT RIGHT NOW! Saturday 6:30 AM-2:30 PM and 2:30 PM-10:30 PM (16 hours), Overnight (generally uninterrupted sleep) 10:30 PM-6:30 AM (8 hours) and Sunday 6:30 AM-2:45 PM (8.25 hours)! We will mutually agree on expanding your hours and working with the other people we support! You can take coverage shifts as needed, if you agree to! These hours can and will expand to full or part tme, if you like. This is a support position with a gentle, loving and likeable young woman, one-on-one in her own fabulous Novato townhome. We love her and you will, too. This job is perfect for students, nurses, moms, or just someone who is caring, experienced, capable and wants to work. A caregiving background is a requirement. The job demands confidence and experience with taking responsiblity for another person's excellent quality of life. This is a residential situation for care, support and mentoring. There is no major medical care. No one is sick! The Job: Companionship The job is in Novato. Your client has an intellectual disability and a hearing and speech deficit. This is why she needs assistance and companionship with daily life and care. No violence, no unpredictable behaviors. She is walking, talking, laughing and charming. Your kindness, intelligence, required experience with people with disabilities, personal communication skills, cooking and organizing skills, energy, active lifestyle, sense of humor and common sense will serve you well in this interesting and fun position. The job will be engaging the person you support and using all of your talents. And you will be loved and appreciated by our agency! You will be offering activities, adventures, engagement and community involvement as well as Supported Living Services to help the person you support stay safe and happy in her own cozy home and community. You will be helping with some laundry, cooking, shopping, and some housekeeping, but not more than 20% of the time. You must be competent with these activities of daily living. You will engage in fun home and community activities that you plan, life guidance, protection, educational opportunities and daily plans. You will be working independently but provided assistance and training from the central agency, Little Red Wagon, as you learn. Your experience with people with disabilities is required, as well as your self-confidence, high energy level, strong cooking, organizing and shopping skills, professionalism, competence, toughness, and willingness to learn. Your Pay and Benefits 1. You will be paid a training rate of $16.50 an hour for all training and meeting hours, for about twenty hours. This will go by quickly! 2. After training you will immediately be paid $23.00 an hour for the day shifts above, $16.50 an hour to sleep in a lovely private room. 3. You will be paid .70 cents a mile for all work or activity mileage. For example: if you drive 100 miles during fun work activities or appointments, you are paid $70.00! 4. All event, movie, concert, event expenses will be reimbursed. 5. You will be offered 40 hours of paid sick leave 6. You will be paid 1.5 x for any overtime over 40 hours a week. 7. We also pay $20.00 a month toward your data plan. 8. You will be enrolled in CalSavers IRA saving plan if you so choose Requirements You will drive for errands and activities. You must have your own insured, clean, reliable car with at least two seat belts, a clean driving record (we will check) Be computer literate, have access to a laptop for training, access to daily email and your own cell phone, preferably a smart phone. Because there is driving involved in the job, you cannot be on any medication with a driving warning or that limits driving. This includes cannabis. You must have a current CPR certification or arrange for one within 30 days. You must speak very clear English as your client sometimes has difficulty understanding language. You must write clear English as there is daily written documentation. A college degree is not required but you must be drug-free (this includes cannabis and any opiates), willing to work in a smoke free environment, with a happy heart. We will drug test. You will be fingerprinted and thoroughly background checked so you can confirm with us what we already assume...that you are trustworthy. After-School SHSAT Class Instructor - $80-120 per hour (Downtown)
Guide Students to Success! Manhattan-based education company is looking to staff after-school and weekend SHSAT in-person classes. Our winter courses beginning in November each comprise 12 weekly classes, each 2.5 hours long, for a total of 30 hours per cohort. We are seeking a responsible, organized educator who has a passion for teaching and a winning personality. We are interested in a presentable teacher who is engaging, enthusiastic, and articulate. As the teacher for this course, you will be responsible for: engaging students to learn from a provided curriculum in a patient, affirming manner leading a classroom (of 8-25 students) through both ELA and Math SHSAT instruction resolving classroom management matters with your Teaching Assistant and/or Operations Associate communicate with management about the course progress, student behavior, and other relevant matters Benefits Consistency in an inconsistent field: it can be difficult to cobble together enough hours in this industry. Our classes happen regularly throughout the year, even during the traditionally "slow" periods. Our courses each comprise 26 non-consecutive weekly classes, each 2.5 hours long, for a total of 65 hours per cohort per school year (September-June), though we hire one semester at a time.
