Generation Housing envisions vibrant communities where everyone has a place to call home and can contribute to an equitable, healthy, and resilient North Bay. Position Overview Generation Housing (Gen H) is seeking a skilled and experienced consultant to lead Gen H’s efforts in growing a broad, pro-housing constituency across Napa Valley. This role is centered on cultivating relationships with local leaders, from elected officials to community champions, and convening a sustained, values-driven campaign that connects housing to issues like economic opportunity, education, health, and community well-being. The ideal candidate is a skilled relationship-builder and strong, active listener with experience engaging influential stakeholders, especially across lines of difference. They don’t need to be a housing expert. What matters most is a genuine interest in the importance of housing to the health of the Napa Valley, an ability to unite diverse allies, highlight shared values, and help give voice to the real-life impact of housing challenges on local families, workers, and seniors. The consultant will work closely with and report to the Executive Director and the Director of Special Initiatives of Generation Housing. Key Responsibilities ● Lead pro-housing coalition-building: Build and grow a visible, sustained pro-housing presence in Napa Valley by leveraging existing relationships and cultivating new ones with grasstops stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience convening these leaders around key community issues. ● Cultivate strategic relationships: Actively build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. Engage and unite diverse allies, including those who may not traditionally see themselves as housing advocates. ● Manage and facilitate campaigns and meetings: Organize and schedule meetings for stakeholders with complex calendars. ● Facilitate Strategic Discussions: Skillfully reframe conversations about housing to highlight their connection to broader community issues such as economic development, mental health, and education, uniting diverse stakeholders around shared goals. ● Develop and implement person-centered messaging: Give voice to the experiences of those affected by housing costs, including workers, families, and seniors. Support Fundraising Efforts: Be open to participating in fund development activities to secure resources for the campaign's long-term success. Qualifications ● Demonstrated ability to skillfully maneuver through different factions and potential conflicts in a non-adversarial manner, focusing on collaboration and mutual understanding. ● Demonstrated ability to actively listen and guide conversations from housing-specific topics to related community issues like economic development, education, and health. ● Are a natural connector with an instinct for relationships and trust-building ● The ideal candidate will have fundraising experience, whether on the development & membership side or through sustainable grants. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. ● Spanish speaking is highly desirable but not required. ● Bilingual/bicultural highly desirable but not required. ● Interest in affordable housing and/or social justice is highly desired. ● Excellent computer skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office and Google Suite of software (especially Word/Docs and ● Excel/Sheets), online research, and basic troubleshooting. Compensation This part-time contract position requires an average of 20-35 hours per week with a fixed compensation of $28,000 through the end of this year. Total hours will not exceed 300 for the term of the contract. The contract will be eligible for renewal in 2026. Location The consultant will be expected to work on-site in Napa Valley, hosting and coordinating in-person meetings and presentations as needed, meeting with elected officials and other stakeholders, and attending relevant community meetings that may include evening hours. Please note that at this time there is no permanent office space designated for this role in Napa Valley, however, we will work with the consultant to secure space for any and all meetings on an as needed basis. The consultant will be required to sign a contract and complete vendor onboarding with Generation Housing/Tides Center. Monthly invoices detailing work performed will be required for payment.
