July 17, 2025 – New York-based EV charging startup Voltpost today announced the expansion of its product portfolio with two new chargers built specifically for garages and multi-unit residential buildings: the Air Ceiling Mount EV charger and the Air Surface Mount charger. The launch addresses a critical gap in the U.S. charging landscape, where roughly 30% of households live in multi-unit dwellings with limited access to personal charging.
The Air Ceiling Mount charger is designed to be installed overhead, freeing up valuable floor space in tight parking garages and apartment building lots. It supports Level 2 charging with up to 48 amps, delivering up to 11.5 kW of power — enough to add about 30 miles of range per hour to most EVs. The unit includes a retractable cable management system and an integrated LED status ring.
The Air Surface Mount charger, meanwhile, is a wall-mounted option for garages, carports, and parking structures. Both models are rated for indoor and outdoor use (NEMA 4 enclosure) and come with built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and OCPP 1.6 compliance for seamless integration with major charging networks and energy management systems.
The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that by 2030, over 20 million EVs will be on the road, yet a significant barrier to adoption is the lack of charging access for renters and condo owners. Voltpost’s new chargers are designed to be installed by a single electrician without structural modifications, reducing installation costs by up to 40% compared to traditional pedestal or wall-mounted units.
“We’ve seen landlords and property managers struggle with expensive retrofits and limited space,” said Voltpost CEO Raj Patel in a statement. “Our Air series eliminates both obstacles. The ceiling mount, in particular, transforms underutilized overhead space into a charging asset.”
Voltpost enters a growing segment already served by companies like ChargePoint, Wallbox, and Tesla’s Universal Wall Connector. However, Voltpost differentiates with a modular design that allows for load-sharing and future power upgrades without replacing the entire unit. The chargers also support RFID and app-based access control, making them suitable for both private and shared use in apartment complexes.
Dr. Emily Tran, a clean energy researcher at the University of California, Davis, noted that “the ceiling-mounted form factor is a clever solution for dense urban parking. It’s not just about the hardware — it’s about making installation practical for existing buildings. Voltpost’s approach could accelerate EV adoption among renters, who currently face the biggest charging gap.”
Both chargers are available for pre-order today, with shipping estimated to begin in September 2025. The Air Ceiling Mount starts at $1,299, and the Air Surface Mount at $1,099. Bulk discounts for property developers and HOAs are available. Voltpost also offers a turnkey installation service through its partner network in 15 major metro areas, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Voltpost’s expansion comes as the Biden administration pushes for a national network of 500,000 public chargers by 2030, and as states like California mandate EV-ready parking spaces in new multi-family construction. The Air series not only helps property owners meet compliance requirements but also adds a resident amenity that can increase property values and tenant retention, according to a 2024 study by the National Multifamily Housing Council.
Voltpost plans to launch a DC fast-charging version for commercial fleets by early 2026, and is exploring bidirectional charging capabilities for vehicle-to-grid applications. The company has raised $22 million in Series A funding from investors including Ecosystem Energy and GreenTech Ventures.
For now, the Air Ceiling Mount and Air Surface Mount chargers represent a practical, cost-effective entry point for property owners who want to offer EV charging without the typical headaches of construction and permitting. As one early adopter from a Chicago condo association put it: “We went from zero to four chargers in one weekend. The ceiling mount saved us from tearing up the parking lot.”
