On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Mumbai Police said they have recovered two firearms and ten live cartridges from Surat, Gujarat, in connection with the firing outside actor Tiger Shroff's car in Juhu last October. The weapons were seized during a targeted operation on Friday after investigators traced the route through which the firearms were moved before being given to the shooters. Officials said the items have been sent for forensic and ballistic examination.

A police official involved in the investigation said crime branch teams studied the logistical chain of the attack and zeroed in on a hideout in Surat during coordinated raids. The official, who asked not to be named because the probe is ongoing, said the recovery is a major step in understanding how the weapons reached Mumbai. The two firearms and the live ammunition have now been handed over to forensics experts.

The ballistic analysis is expected to play a critical role in the case. Investigators will compare the markings on the recovered weapons with the empty shell casings found at the scene of the shooting in Juhu. According to police, this scientific evidence could help establish a direct link between the weapons and the gunmen. They also hope the matching will help prosecutors prove the sequence of events in court.

The attack happened on October 18, when at least two men opened fire near Shroff’s car in the Juhu area of Mumbai. The assailants fired several rounds before fleeing on a motorcycle. The actor escaped with no major injuries, but his driver and a bystander were wounded. Police later found the motorcycle abandoned in Andheri, and it was taken into custody as evidence.

Mumbai Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, with charges including attempt to murder and related offences. Ten suspects have been arrested so far in connection with the case from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. The latest recovery from Surat suggests the investigation has now shifted toward the sourcing and transport of the weapons used in the attack.

Authorities have also named gangster Anil Pandit as a wanted accused in the case. Pandit is believed to be an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which is suspected of operating from the United States. In a social media post, he had claimed responsibility for the October 18 attack on Shroff. Police are now examining whether he directed the operation from abroad and whether the firearms were procured on his instructions.

The Bishnoi network has been linked to several high-profile criminal cases in India, including the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. Mumbai Police have also been looking into possible connections between the gang and threats made against other Bollywood figures. The Shroff case is being treated as part of a wider pattern of organised crime targeting well-known personalities.

The recovery of the weapons is considered important not only for this investigation but also for cracking the illegal weapons trade operating between Gujarat and Mumbai. Police sources said firearms used in such attacks are often discarded quickly or moved to another state, which makes tracing them difficult. Finding the actual weapons still in usable condition is an uncommon breakthrough for the investigators.

Officials declined to say whether the recovered weapons had been used in any earlier crimes, but forensic teams are checking the history of the firearms as part of the probe. The police are also expected to question the ten suspects again in the coming days to learn more about the route and the people who helped store the weapons in Surat.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the wider supply chain remains active. Police believe there could be more people involved in arranging logistics, shelter, and transport for the attackers. The Mumbai Crime Branch is coordinating with forensic laboratories and local police units in multiple states to complete the technical reports.

There has been no official statement from Shroff or his team about the recovery. The actor has continued his professional commitments since the shooting. In the weeks after the attack, Mumbai Police increased patrols in areas where several film personalities live, though no formal security upgrade has been made public.

The latest development also raises questions about how easily firearms can be moved through Indian cities despite regular police checks. Investigators are trying to identify every person who handled the weapons before they reached the assailants and to determine whether the same route was used in previous offences.

As the police continue to build the case, the forensic results from the Surat seizure are likely to be one of the key pieces of evidence in the trial. A final report on the ballistics testing is expected within the next few weeks, after which the police may announce further arrests or a revised set of charges.
