Skoda’s Simply Clever philosophy has long been a hallmark of practical innovation, and the brand continues to roll out fresh features tailored to the ever-evolving needs of drivers. As the summer travel season kicks off in March 2025, Skoda is highlighting how its latest suite of smart solutions—spanning storage, charging, comfort, and electric mobility—makes both daily commutes and long road trips more effortless.

Storage and Organisation: Keeping Everything in Its Place

One of the most appreciated aspects of Skoda’s Simply Clever line is the focus on smart storage. Door bottle holders in current models accommodate bottles up to 1.5 litres, while rear passengers can stash 1.5-litre, one-litre, or 0.5-litre bottles depending on the model. The rear tunnel pocket and a waste bin in the door pocket help maintain a tidy cabin. The Easy Open cupholder in the centre console securely holds a 0.5-litre PET bottle and allows one-handed opening—a small but thoughtful detail.

For families and outdoor enthusiasts, the boot area is equipped with a net programme, bag hooks, and Cargo elements to keep luggage and gear from shifting. Warning vests are stored in dedicated compartments in the door panels, ensuring they’re always within reach.

Charging on the Go: Up to 45 W USB-C and Wireless

Modern drivers rely heavily on mobile devices, and Skoda’s charging solutions have kept pace. Depending on the specification, vehicles offer up to four USB-C ports with outputs of up to 45 W—enough to fast-charge phones, tablets, headphones, and power banks. The ventilated Phone Box prevents overheating during wireless charging and is available on select models. In the Kodiaq and Peaq, both the driver and front passenger can charge their phones wirelessly at the same time.

The Classic Umbrella: Still a Favourite

The umbrella stored in the driver’s door—and in some models also the front passenger door—remains one of Skoda’s most iconic Simply Clever features. It’s neatly stowed yet easily accessible when rain catches you off guard. The MySkoda app now includes an AI-based trip planner to simplify route planning, another layer of convenience.

Rear-Seat Comfort: Pockets, USB-C, and the Sleep Package

Rear-seat passengers benefit from storage pockets on the backs of front seats, with dedicated slots for a phone, book, tablet, or headphones. Additional USB-C ports are available. In the Octavia and Superb, the optional Sleep Package provides extra comfort for longer journeys, making naps or overnight drives more restful.

Electric Mobility: V2L, Camp Mode, and Wellbeing

As Skoda expands its electric vehicle lineup, the Simply Clever portfolio has grown to include features that leverage the new powertrain. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) is a standout: it uses energy from the traction battery to power external devices, either through a 230 V socket in the boot or via an adapter connected to the charging socket. This means you can charge phones, laptops, cameras, power banks, travel kettles, and even e-bikes directly from the car.

Camp Mode is designed for occasional overnight stays. Once activated via the MySkoda app, it maintains the selected interior temperature throughout the night and provides a continuous supply of fresh air. The system requires a battery charge of at least 30%, a healthy 12 V starter battery, and a stable internet connection.

For the all-new Skoda Peaq, the optional Relax Package makes its debut in the Skoda range. It transforms the vehicle into a comfortable sanctuary during long journeys, charging stops, or breaks. The package includes electrically adjustable, heated AGR-certified seats with massage function, electrically adjustable ergonomic leg rests, and seat ventilation in Suite interiors. A premium Sonos sound system and a Wellbeing app with six modes (relaxation, stretching, re-energising, etc.) adjust the climate control, ambient lighting, and seat massage accordingly. Other touches include cushions on the front head restraints and a foldable table in the centre console.

Innovative Boot Solutions for the 7-Seater Peaq

In the seven-seater version of the Peaq, the roller boot cover can be stored under the bonnet when the third row of seats is in use. The front storage compartment also provides space for charging cables and a charging-cable cleaner, which helps keep the vehicle tidy and ready for the next adventure.

Why These Features Matter: Real-World Impact

Industry analysts note that Skoda’s Simply Clever approach is a key differentiator in the competitive compact and mid-size segments. “The attention to detail—like the umbrella, the bottle holders tailored to different bottle sizes, and the integration of V2L—directly addresses pain points that drivers face daily,” says automotive journalist Mark Heaton. “As electric vehicles become more mainstream, features like Camp Mode and V2L add genuine utility beyond just driving.”

Skoda’s commitment to customer-centric innovation shows no signs of slowing down. With the rollout of the Peaq and the expanding electric lineup, the brand is proving that clever design and practical features can coexist with modern electrification. Whether you’re packing for a camping trip, charging devices on the go, or simply keeping the cabin tidy, Skoda’s Simply Clever features are designed to make life a little easier—one thoughtful detail at a time.
