August 12, 2025 – Digital operations platform PagerDuty (NYSE:PD) delivered a Q2 CY2026 earnings beat on the top line, with revenue of $124.4 million edging past analyst estimates of $123.3 million. While sales were flat year over year, the company saw a notable acceleration in customer additions, adding 126 net new customers to reach 15,506 total. Adjusted EPS of $0.32 also surpassed the consensus estimate of $0.31 by 4.3%.
Beyond the headline numbers, PagerDuty’s adjusted operating income of $29.53 million came in 6.8% above the Street’s forecast, representing a 23.7% margin. Operating margin improved to 8.2% from 2.9% in the same quarter last year, signaling continued cost discipline. Free cash flow margin, however, slipped to 26.3% from 34.1% in the prior quarter, but remained healthy.
Management lifted full-year revenue guidance slightly to $494 million at the midpoint (from $492.5 million) and raised adjusted EPS guidance to $1.35 at the midpoint, a 4.2% increase. For the next quarter, the company guided for revenue of approximately $124 million, in line with analyst expectations.
The sequential customer increase of 126 was the strongest in several quarters, reversing a trend of decelerating gains. PagerDuty’s go-to-market improvements, including a more targeted sales motion and expanded self-service options, appear to be gaining traction. However, the total customer count growth rate of about 3% year over year remains modest compared to the broader SaaS landscape.
Billings, a non-GAAP metric that reflects cash collected, totaled $117.1 million in Q2, up 3.1% year over year. While the growth rate is below the company’s historical average, it marks a slight acceleration from the prior quarter and suggests that deal closures are stabilizing.
Over the past five years, PagerDuty compounded revenue at 15.2% annually, but the two-year CAGR through Q2 has slowed to just 5.2%. The flat year-over-year growth in Q2 underscores the headwinds from a mature product base and increased competition from platforms like ServiceNow and Splunk. Analysts project revenue growth of only 1.3% over the next 12 months, indicating that the demand environment remains challenging.
In its earnings call, PagerDuty’s management emphasized that the company is focusing on higher-value enterprise deals and cross-selling its AI-powered incident response features. A recent report from Gartner indicates that the incident management market is expected to grow at a 12% CAGR through 2028, providing a potential tailwind if PagerDuty can capture share. The company also highlighted that its new AI-driven summarization and triage tools have been adopted by several Fortune 500 clients in the quarter.
PagerDuty’s improved operating margins demonstrate that the company can generate leverage even with tepid top-line growth. The non-GAAP operating margin of 23.7% was the highest in the past five quarters. With a market capitalization of $940 million, the stock trades at roughly 1.9x forward revenue, a discount to many SaaS peers trading above 4x. This valuation partly reflects the slower growth trajectory, but the margin expansion and customer base progress could attract value-oriented investors.
Despite the earnings beat, shares fell 2.5% in after-hours trading to $12.38. The market may have been disappointed by the in-line guidance for the next quarter and the persistent revenue stagnation. However, the customer growth acceleration and raised full-year guidance offer a counter-narrative that the company is stabilizing its core business.
PagerDuty’s Q2 results were a mixed bag: flat revenue but better-than-expected profitability, a solid customer addition quarter, and conservative guidance. The company’s focus on AI capabilities and operational efficiency positions it to weather the current slowdown, but a return to double-digit growth will require a more significant
