Audi took the wraps off the third-generation Q3 in India today, March 19, 2025, showcasing a heavily updated interior, a sharper exterior, and a familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. While the launch is focused on the Indian market, the new Q3 is expected to reach North America later this year or early 2026, giving the compact luxury SUV segment a fresh competitor.

The new Q3 retains the overall silhouette of its predecessor but gains a more aggressive front fascia with a larger grille and crisper lines. The rear features a connected taillight bar that gives the SUV a modern, wider look – a design cue increasingly common across Audi’s lineup. The changes are evolutionary, but enough to distinguish the new model from the outgoing version.

The biggest transformation happens inside. The dashboard is now dominated by two large digital displays – a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system – that replace the previous generation’s more conservative layout. A flat-bottom steering wheel, chrome accents on the center console, and upgraded materials add a more premium feel. Audi says the cabin is “one of the most significant upgrades” over the old Q3.

Under the hood, the India-spec Q3 uses a 2.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 188 horsepower and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive as standard. For the US market, however, the powertrain is likely to be tuned differently. The current US Q3 offers a 2.0-liter TFSI with 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, and sources suggest the new model could retain a similar output, possibly with mild-hybrid assistance to improve fuel economy.

Audi has not yet confirmed US pricing, but analysts expect the new Q3 to start around $38,000 for the base trim and rise to $45,000 for loaded versions. That would put it in direct competition with the redesigned BMW X1 (starting at $39,000) and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA refresh. The Q3’s standard AWD system could be a strong selling point against rivals that often make it optional.

Two trim levels are expected for the US: a base Premium and a higher Premium Plus, mirroring the Indian market’s Technology and Premium Plus variants. Standard features will likely include LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, and the dual-screen setup. Optional packages may add adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and upgraded audio.

According to Audi’s global press materials, the new Q3 also benefits from improved NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) damping and a stiffer body structure, which should translate to a quieter, more refined ride on American roads. The suspension setup remains MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear, but tuning has been revised for better comfort.

The SUV’s arrival in the US comes at a time when the compact luxury segment is growing, with buyers increasingly choosing smaller crossovers over sedans. The Q3’s main challenge will be standing out in a field that includes not only the X1 and GLA but also the Volvo XC40, Lexus UX, and Cadillac XT4. Audi’s strong brand reputation and the Q3’s updated technology should help, but pricing will be critical.

More details, including final US specifications and local market launch date, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Audi has not yet confirmed whether a plug-in hybrid version – already offered in Europe – will make it to the US. For now, the new Q3’s 2.0-liter turbo with quattro remains the core offering.

Stay tuned for official Audi USA announcements and our first drive impressions later this year.
