On Sunday, August 24, 2025, No. 1 Nebraska volleyball delivered a dominant three-set sweep over No. 2 Texas (25-19, 25-19, 25-16) at the Players Era Showcase inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. As of Monday, August 25, 2025, the Huskers improved to 2-0, while the Longhorns fell to 2-2.
The win marks Nebraska’s first sweep of a top-2 opponent since 2023, and it solidifies the team’s grip on the No. 1 ranking ahead of the next AVCA poll. The Huskers hit .293 as a team and held Texas to just .152, relying on a relentless serving attack and a stout net defense.
Texas jumped out to an early 8-5 lead, but Nebraska responded with a staggering 10-0 run that changed the entire complexion of the set. The run was fueled by Bergen Reilly’s aggressive serving and the Huskers’ pressure at the net, which forced four Texas errors and recorded two blocks. The Longhorns clawed back to within two (20-18), but Nebraska closed on a 5-1 spurt, capped by a Reilly service ace. Andi Jackson, Manaia Ogbechie, and Teraya Sigler each contributed kills during the decisive stretch.
Texas started the second set with a 4-1 lead
