August 24, 2025 – In a move that signals a deeper convergence between automotive journalism and online vehicle sales, Germany’s largest vehicle marketplace, mobile.de, has inked a comprehensive partnership with the BILD Group, parent company of AUTO BILD and BILD.de. Starting August 1, 2026, all used vehicle listings from mobile.de will be integrated into AUTOBILD.de, giving users direct access to over 1.6 million passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and e-bikes.
The collaboration goes beyond simple listing aggregation. mobile.de will become the exclusive vehicle market partner for AUTO BILD and BILD.de, replacing previous arrangements. For the first time, editorial content such as used-car reviews, buying guides, and comparative tests will be paired with relevant live listings—a model that U.S. automotive media outlets like Car and Driver and Autotrader have been refining for years. However, this German partnership takes the integration a step further by embedding leasing and pre-registered vehicle offers directly into articles, creating a seamless buyer journey from information to transaction.
“Anyone interested in cars today is looking for more than just information; they want a direct path to the right vehicle,” said Robin Hornig, Editor-in-Chief of AUTO BILD. “Together with mobile.de, we are creating a much broader range of offers for our users, combining independent automotive journalism with Germany’s largest vehicle marketplace.”
Why This Matters for the U.S. Market
While the partnership is Germany-focused, it offers a blueprint for U.S. publishers and marketplaces. Currently, platforms like Autotrader and Cars.com maintain separate editorial arms, but few achieve the level of editorial-listing synergy planned here. According to industry analyst Sarah K. Chen of Mobility Insights, “The BILD-mobile.de deal is a logical next step in the media-commerce convergence. U.S. players should watch closely—especially as digital ad revenue models come under pressure, the ability to convert readers into buyers through integrated listings could become a critical revenue stream.”
The BILD Group, which reaches over 40 million people monthly in Germany, is positioning itself as a “digital buying advisor and mobility marketplace.” The partnership will also extend to BILD.de’s buying guide, where vehicle rankings and editorial content will display relevant mobile.de offers.
Ajay Bhatia, CEO of mobile.de, emphasized the advantage for dealers: “The strategic partnership creates significantly greater visibility for car dealers within one of Germany’s most important editorial environments for car shoppers. We reach people at the exact moment their interest turns into a concrete intention to buy.”
Additional Value: Exclusive Data Point
As part of the original announcement not widely reported, mobile.de and BILD will jointly develop a proprietary recommendation engine that uses editorial browsing behavior to surface the most relevant vehicle listings. This is expected to launch in Q3 2026 and could set a new standard for contextual automotive advertising.
