Updated: March 21, 2025 – Four people are dead and one person is hospitalized after a car crashed into Mill Creek near Queen City Avenue on Saturday evening, according to Cincinnati Police Sergeant Anthony Mitchell.

The incident was reported at approximately 5:50 p.m. when emergency crews responded to the scene along the waterway. The sole survivor was transported to a local hospital, though their condition remains unknown. The four other occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, pending notification of family members. The Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit is leading the investigation into what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and enter the creek.

Investigators are examining factors such as vehicle speed, road conditions, and possible mechanical failure. Witnesses are being interviewed, and the vehicle has been recovered for forensic analysis. No charges have been filed, and no toxicology results have been released as of this writing.

The crash site on Queen City Avenue is a familiar stretch of road that runs parallel to Mill Creek, a waterway that flows through several Cincinnati neighborhoods. The area is not known for frequent accidents, but the sharp curve near the creek has raised concerns among local residents in the past.

“This is a devastating tragedy, and our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives,” said Sergeant Mitchell in a brief statement. “We are working diligently to determine exactly what happened and will provide updates as the investigation allows.”

The survivor’s condition has not been upgraded or downgraded, and hospital officials have declined to comment further, citing privacy laws. The survivor is expected to be interviewed by police once medically stable.

Community members have expressed shock and grief over the incident. “I’ve lived here for 20 years and never seen anything like this,” said a neighbor who asked not to be named. “It’s just heartbreaking.”

The Cincinnati Fire Department also responded to the scene and assisted with extrication and water rescue operations. The vehicle was fully
