JSW MG Motor India is readying a new special edition of its MG Windsor EV, called the Indulge, as the model completes two years in the Indian market with more than 80,000 units sold. As of May 9, 2026, MG has not confirmed the launch date or the full feature list, but the upcoming version is expected to follow the approach of the earlier Windsor EV Inspire edition, focusing on cosmetic upgrades and a few added niceties rather than powertrain changes.
The Windsor EV has quietly become one of MG India’s most important electric vehicles. Since its local debut, it has managed to build a steady sales base, and the new milestone of 80,000 units shows that the model has found a place in a market where compact electric SUVs are gaining traction.
Special editions like the Windsor EV Indulge are usually designed to maintain that momentum. By adding a new trim, MG can generate fresh showroom interest without reworking the underlying engineering. That is a common strategy in India, where buyers often value a distinctive look and unique equipment almost as much as range and charging figures.
The Indulge edition is expected to be a visually refreshed version of the standard Windsor EV. MG hasn’t released any official images or specifications yet, but the general expectation is that it will stand out through new exterior styling cues, exclusive badging, and possibly a revised cabin theme.
The earlier Windsor EV Inspire edition already used this formula. It came with an integrated dashcam as a notable extra, along with special cosmetic touches. With the Indulge, MG may go a step further and add even more standard equipment or unique trim details, though the final list remains unconfirmed.
Because the Indulge is expected to be a cosmetic package, most of the changes will likely be visible at a glance. A new exterior colour is a strong possibility, as is a set of dedicated edition badges to differentiate the car from regular Windsor models. Inside, the upholstery could be swapped for a different combination, and there may be small Trim tweaks such as contrast stitching or scuff plates.
The regular MG Windsor EV already comes well equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, and rear air-conditioning vents. The Indulge edition is likely to carry all of those features forward while possibly adding a couple of exclusive touches. Until MG reveals the official equipment sheet, there is no way to know exactly which extras will be part of the package.
One thing appears unlikely to change: the powertrain. MG is expected to leave the mechanical package untouched for the Indulge edition, which is typical for a special trim.
The standard MG Windsor EV uses a 38 kWh battery pack, while the Windsor EV Pro comes with a larger 52.9 kWh battery. Both versions produce 134 bhp, which is roughly 132 hp, and 200 Nm of torque, with drive going to the front wheels. The larger pack uses prismatic lithium iron phosphate cells, a chemistry often preferred for its durability and thermal stability.
For charging, the Windsor EV supports a 7.4 kW AC charger as standard. DC fast-charging tops out at 45 kW for the standard battery and 60 kW for the Pro variant. Those figures should carry over unchanged to the Indulge edition, unless MG decides to bundle a home charger or other charging benefits into the special edition package.
One of the bigger questions is which model will form the base for the Indulge edition. MG could offer it only on the standard 38 kWh car, only on the Pro, or on both.
The previous Inspire edition was available exclusively with the 38 kWh battery version, so there is a chance MG will take a similar route with the Indulge. On the other hand, giving the Pro battery an exclusive trim option could broaden the range’s appeal to buyers looking for longer range with a more standout look.
Pricing will likely determine how well the Indulge edition is received. Special editions in this segment tend to carry a modest premium over the regular variant, but buyers expect something meaningful in return. If the added equipment is limited to badges and colour choices, MG may need to keep the price gap very tight.
The Indian EV market has become increasingly crowded, with models like the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, and BYD Atto 3 all competing for attention. Within that environment, special editions give automakers a quick way to refresh interest without launching a full new variant.
Industry observers note that limited-run editions are especially useful in India because buyers are often looking for a clear sense of value. A special edition can make a car feel more exclusive, and if it comes with a useful feature such as a dashcam, it may tip the decision toward that showroom rather than another brand.
MG seems to understand this. By introducing the Windsor EV Inspire first and now preparing the Indulge, the company is keeping the model in the spotlight without having to change its core specification. That approach can also help resale value if the edition is produced in controlled numbers, though MG has not said whether the Indulge will be limited in any way.
MG has not yet given a date for the Windsor EV Indulge edition. Given the model’s two-year anniversary and the current sales milestone, an official announcement could come in the coming weeks. Launch activity in India often aligns with festive seasons and end-of-quarter delivery pushes, so the Indulge edition may surface as part of a broader sales campaign.
Until then, dealership updates, media leaks, and official teasers will provide more clarity. The final feature list, pricing structure, and availability across battery variants will all be key talking points when the car is revealed.
For readers outside India, the MG Windsor EV Indulge edition is a useful example of how automakers are extending the life cycle of electric models in emerging markets. While MG passenger cars are not officially sold in the United States, the Windsor EV is part of a wave of compact, cost-sensitive EVs coming out of Chinese-owned brands with global ambitions.
The special edition strategy is not unique to MG, of course. Automakers in the US also use trim packages and limited runs to distinguish electric models, especially as competition from both legacy brands and newer startups grows. If this Indulge edition sells well, it could reinforce the idea that small styling and equipment updates are enough to keep buyers interested between major model changes.
For now, the MG Windsor EV Indulge edition remains an expected rather than an official product. MG is staying tight-lipped, which means the next update could come from the company itself or from regulatory filings that often surface before a launch. Either way, the Windsor EV’s latest chapter is one more sign that electrification in India is moving forward at a steady, evolving pace.
