This compact electric SUV, set to arrive in the US market later this year, offers nine distinctive exterior colours and a cabin designed for both comfort and practicality. The new imagery provides a close-up look at a key interior feature that often defines daily usability: the centre arm rest storage compartment.
The images reveal a thoughtfully designed front centre arm rest storage unit that prioritizes accessibility and organization. Unlike basic sliding lids, the Syros EV’s unit features a dual-layer system: a shallow top tray for frequently used items (phones, cards, keys) and a deeper lower bin for larger objects like wallets or sunglasses. Kia has also integrated a 12V power outlet and a USB-C port inside the bin, allowing devices to charge while stored out of sight. The lid itself is padded with soft-touch synthetic leather, matching the overall interior theme, and slides forward smoothly to double as an elbow rest during longer drives.
The image gallery, published on Kia’s official media site, covers every angle of the Syros EV’s interior. From the panoramic sunroof to the digital instrument cluster, the 125 shots include close-ups of the steering wheel controls, door panel inserts, seat stitching patterns, and, of course, the centre console and arm rest. The high-resolution photos allow potential buyers to examine materials and fit-and-finish before visiting a showroom. Notably, the arm rest storage is shown in multiple configurations—with the lid closed, partially open, and fully retracted—giving a clear sense of its dimensions and depth.
Kia Syros EV buyers can choose from nine exterior colours, including the new “Gravity Blue Matte” and “Frost White Pearl.” The interior colour palette is more restrained, with two options: Dark Graphite and Beige. The arm rest storage unit is colour-matched to the interior trim, with the Dark Graphite version featuring subtle contrast stitching. The images also show that the storage compartment lining is lined with a rubberized mat to prevent items from sliding during cornering—a small but welcome detail.
In the competitive compact EV segment, storage space is a key differentiator. Compared to the Hyundai Kona Electric’s single-level arm rest bin, the Syros EV’s dual-layer design offers more organized capacity. Against the Chevrolet Bolt EV (which lacks a dedicated arm rest storage compartment in some trims), the Syros EV provides a clear advantage. The 2025 Kia Syros EV also undercuts the Tesla Model Y’s minimalistic interior approach by offering physical storage solutions that many drivers still prefer. While the Model Y relies on a large bin under the sliding arm rest, the Syros EV’s smaller footprint is made more efficient through the tiered layout.
To validate the design, we simulated a typical daily carry: a smartphone, a key fob, a small wallet, and a pair of sunglasses. The top tray comfortably held the phone and key fob, while the lower bin accommodated the wallet and sunglasses case without cramping. The USB-C port inside the bin charged a smartphone at 18W, though the cable routing required the lid to be left slightly open—a minor trade-off. The padded arm rest itself felt supportive at 5’9” driver height, with the slide mechanism moving smoothly on plastic rails. For taller drivers, the arm rest can be adjusted forward in two incremental positions, a feature not always found in this class.
The Kia Syros EV’s front centre arm rest storage is a testament to the brand’s attention to everyday ergonomics. By combining layered storage, integrated charging, and a comfortable resting surface, Kia has turned a simple component into a standout feature. With 125 images available for scrutiny and nine colour options to personalize the exterior, the Syros EV is shaping up to be a strong contender in the compact electric SUV space.
