Honda will unveil the Elevate facelift in India on October 6 — its first major update since the SUV's 2023 debut. Bookings are already open at ₹21,000, teasers are out, and the refresh brings a bolder look plus more equipment. As of September 24, 2026, here's what buyers can expect before the launch.
The facelift is not a ground-up redesign, but it changes the Elevate's personality considerably. Up front, Honda has linked the LED headlamps with a segmented daytime-running-light strip, giving the SUV a wider, more contemporary stance. The gloss-black honeycomb grille carries more visual weight, and the Honda badge now sits on the hood rather than inside the grille. The chrome strip that previously crowned the grille has been darkened, a small cue that shifts the entire character of the nose.
The rear gets a complement: LED taillights are now connected by a light bar, a feature that has become something of a segment staple. The 17-inch alloy wheels, however, carry over unchanged. The silhouette and proportions remain untouched, preserving the Elevate's upright, boxy profile.
The Elevate has always been the conservative option in India's crowded midsize SUV class, so this facelift is a deliberate move in a tougher, more expressive direction.
Honda previewed exactly this styling route with the WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept, shown at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. That concept is essentially a dressed-up Elevate — the same basic vehicle is sold in Japan under the WR-V nameplate. It adds orange accents, black alloys and a roof-mounted gear basket, giving the SUV a rally-style identity.
The concept drew attention at the Tokyo show partly because it underlined how Honda is now using its Indian factories for global products. Whether any of those show-car touches reach the production facelift is still under wraps.
The dashboard teaser reveals additional soft-touch leatherette padding across the upper cabin — a direct response to one of the pre-facelift car's most criticized areas. The dashboard layout remains familiar, but buyers should get new upholstery and fresh trim materials. The two-tone themes currently offered, white with black and brown with black, are expected to continue. Honda has not confirmed which materials will appear on lower trims.
Since the body shell is unchanged, the Elevate should retain its generous rear legroom, large trunk and high-set seating position, all of which have been part of its appeal in this segment. The softer dashboard padding should also help the cabin feel closer to the quality of Honda's top-shelf sedans.
Honda has been tight-lipped about the full spec sheet, but the teasers and industry reports point to a clear pattern. The outgoing Elevate already has solid fundamentals: a big touchscreen, connected car services and the Level 2 ADAS suite marketed as Honda Sensing. What the facelift is expected to add are the comfort extras rivals have made commonplace.
Anticipated additions include powered and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, rear sunshades, updated infotainment graphics and ambient lighting. The lighting is currently a dealer accessory on the existing model, but teaser images suggest it will be built into the car from the factory this time.
Carried-over equipment includes wireless phone charging, a partially digital driver display, the LaneWatch camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker audio system, an optional 360-degree camera and Honda Sensing.
One open question is how these features are distributed across trims. Honda has historically saved its headline equipment for top-spec variants, and the facelift may follow the same pattern.
Under the hood, the Elevate facelift is expected to match the current model. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (gasoline) engine produces 121 hp and 145 Nm, paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-step CVT. A dealer-installed CNG kit remains available with the manual transmission on select variants. Fuel efficiency is expected to stay at current levels for both transmissions.
A strong-hybrid option along the lines of the Honda City's system is not anticipated at launch. That means the Elevate continues without an electrified variant in a segment where turbo-petrol and hybrid powertrains are steadily multiplying.
The current Elevate is priced from ₹11.88 lakh to ₹16.36 lakh (ex-showroom, India) — roughly US$14,000 to US$19,600 at prevailing exchange rates. The facelift is expected to add a modest premium on top of those figures, with final pricing to be announced at launch.
The Elevate has always been priced near the upper end of its class, and Honda is unlikely to change that approach. Its rivals remain the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Škoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Tata Sierra, all competing hard on both price and equipment.
The Elevate is a useful window into Honda's global SUV strategy. The vehicle is developed and built in India, then exported to Japan as the WR-V — a reversal of the traditional Japan-to-emerging-markets product flow. It also points to the engineering maturity of Honda's India operations, which now supply vehicles for multiple right-hand-drive markets. Global development matters on cost, too: the Elevate platform is engineered for scale, and Honda can spread those engineering expenses across India, Japan and other export markets.
For American readers, the Elevate itself is not bound for US showrooms; Honda's local crossover lineup runs from the HR-V to the CR-V and Passport. But the styling direction evident here — connected lighting, darker grille elements and a more assertive front end — offers clues about where Honda's design language is heading globally. The TrailSport concept, meanwhile, shows the brand experimenting with a rugged, outdoor-ready look that could eventually appear on models in other regions, North America included.
Full specifications, variant-wise pricing and final design details will be confirmed at the October 6 launch. It also remains to be seen whether the concept's orange accents become a factory option and whether any hybrid plans are being saved for a later update. In the meantime, bookings are open, and the launch presentation should complete the picture.
