The Genesis GV90 is no longer a rumor. The Korean luxury marque has officially confirmed its all-new electric flagship SUV, set to redefine the premium segment with class-leading range, ultra-fast charging, and a cabin that rivals the most opulent sedans.
Unveiled quietly during a private brand summit in Seoul last week, the full-size GV90 is built on the dedicated e‑GMP platform — the same 800‑volt architecture powering the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 — but stretched and reinforced to accommodate a massive battery pack. Sources close to the project confirm a targeted EPA range of over 500 miles (800 km), making it the longest‑range electric SUV offered in the United States.
Design and Presence
The GV90 adopts Genesis’s “Athletic Elegance” design language, but with an even more imposing stance. The signature two‑line headlights and Crest Grille are reimagined with a seamless, illuminated panel. Wheelbase measures nearly 130 inches, slotting above the already‑large GV80 and directly challenging the Mercedes‑Benz EQS SUV and BMW iX. Inside, the cabin is a masterclass in restraint and luxury. Genesis sources describe the use of recycled wool, vegan leather, and real wood veneers harvested from sustainable forests. Rear passengers get individual reclining seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions — a first for any Genesis SUV. Powertrain and Performance
The GV90 will be offered in two configurations: a single‑motor rear‑wheel‑drive version producing 300 hp, and a dual‑motor all‑wheel‑drive model with a combined 450 hp. Later, a high‑performance Genesis GV90 N variant is expected, equipped with a third motor and torque‑vectoring capabilities.
The 800‑volt battery system supports 350‑kW DC fast charging, adding 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes. Genesis has not released official pricing, but industry analysts estimate a starting price of around $85,000 for the RWD model and $100,000+ for the AWD flagship. The GV90 will be built at Hyundai’s dedicated EV plant in Georgia, making it eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit for US buyers.
Production is scheduled to begin in Q4 2025, with first deliveries to US customers expected in early 2026. Pre‑orders are expected to open in late summer 2025.
Competitive Landscape
The GV90 enters a crowded but rapidly growing segment. The Mercedes‑EQS SUV currently offers up to 350 miles of range, while the BMW iX tops out at 324 miles.
