MONTEREY, Calif. – August 14, 2025 – Ferrari’s first all-electric vehicle, the Luce, shattered records during Monterey Car Week, selling for $40 million at a Sotheby’s charity auction. The price far exceeds the $636,356 base price of the model unveiled in May, underscoring the intense demand for the Italian automaker’s tailor-made, one-of-a-kind commissions.
The sale eclipses the previous record for a new car at auction – $26 million for Ferrari’s custom-built Daytona SP3 last year. The Luce was auctioned off as part of Ferrari’s annual charity event, with proceeds reportedly directed toward environmental and educational initiatives, aligning with the company’s push into electrification.

The company’s share price has since recovered, buoyed by strong quarterly results and renewed confidence in its electrification strategy.
The Luce represents a landmark collaboration with LoveFrom, the design studio founded by Jony Ive, the former Apple design chief behind the iPhone and iMac. Ive’s team worked closely with Ferrari’s Centro Stile to craft a four-door, all-electric grand tourer that blends minimalist aesthetics with Ferrari’s signature performance DNA. The result is a vehicle that, according to Ferrari, “has nothing to do with electric cars you have seen from other players.”
