Ferrari’s first battery-electric model, the Luce, has officially sold out its entire 2026 production allocation just two months after its global reveal in Rome, signaling strong demand from wealthy buyers despite a polarizing design. Orders from the United States, Australia, and New Zealand have been placed, with the first customer cars expected to arrive in late 2027.

As of August 2025, Ferrari confirmed that the €550,000 (approximately $605,000) electric grand tourer has attracted interest from both existing Ferrari owners and new-to-brand customers, including technology entrepreneurs in the United States. The Luce is the brand’s first five-seat, four-door production car and its first fully electric vehicle, part of Ferrari’s multi-energy strategy that will keep petrol, hybrid, and electric models side by side.

Ferrari North America has not yet released official US pricing or allocation numbers, but the automaker’s global sales target of under 500 units for 2026 has already been met, according to the Financial Times. The exclusivity aligns with Ferrari’s strategy of keeping the Luce rare, even as it introduces the brand to a new generation of electric-vehicle buyers.

US customers are among the first to place orders, Ferrari confirmed via its Australasia president, though the company’s American division has echoed the news. “Since the initial announcement last October, the Ferrari Luce has been the subject of high interest from both customers and new-to-brand people, with first orders placed immediately following the world premiere in Rome,” said Michele Comelli, president of Ferrari Australasia. He added that the first Australian customer cars will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2027, and a similar timeline is expected for US deliveries. Ferrari will bring a single Luce to the US in September for a series of exclusive preview events hosted by its official dealer network, giving potential buyers a first look before the production run begins.

The Luce’s design has been the most controversial aspect of its launch. Created in collaboration with LoveFrom, the design studio founded by former Apple chief Jony Ive and Marc Newson, the car features a radical “glass house” silhouette, floating aerodynamic wings, and unusually clean surfaces. Critics on social media compared it to mass-market vehicles, and former Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di
