June 30, 2025 – Classic cars, vintage trucks, rare motorcycles, and modern performance machines will once again line the shores of Lake Chelan when the Fall Into Chelan Car Show returns to Riverwalk Park on September 12 for its 22nd consecutive year. Organized by the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, the event has grown from a small gathering of local enthusiasts into one of the region’s most anticipated automotive celebrations, drawing visitors from across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
This year’s show introduces a new “Electrified” category for electric and hybrid vehicles – a first for the event. Organizers say the addition reflects the changing landscape of automotive interest and aims to attract a broader audience. “We’ve seen rising enthusiasm for EVs among our members and attendees, so we decided to carve out dedicated space,” said Megan Phillips, special events coordinator for the Chamber. “Whether you’re a purist with a 1966 Mustang or a tech lover with a Tesla Roadster, there’s something for you.”
More than 250 vehicles are expected to be on display, including pre-1970s classics, custom hot rods, restored muscle cars, and off-road trucks. Local car clubs such as the Wenatchee Valley Vintage Auto Club and the Chelan Cruisers have already confirmed participation. Registration is open until Sept. 5, with a fee of $25 per vehicle. Same-day registration is also available, but early entry increases the chance of securing a prime spot along the park’s waterfront.
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with awards presented at 3 p.m. in categories like Best in Show, People’s Choice, Best Engine, Best Paint, and the new “Best Electric Conversion.” Spectators can vote for People’s Choice at the main tent. Live music from local band The Rusty Nails will play throughout the afternoon, and food vendors will offer everything from burgers to wood-fired pizza.
Beyond the cars, the event serves as a key driver for the local economy. According to the Chelan Valley Tourism Bureau, last year’s show generated an estimated $180,000 in visitor spending on lodging, dining, and retail. “September is our shoulder season, so this car show really helps extend the summer tourism bump,” said tourism director Rick Hernandez. “We see families booking hotel rooms for the whole weekend and exploring the wineries and hiking trails.”
Volunteers are still needed for parking, registration, and cleanup. Anyone interested can sign up through the Chamber’s website. The event also partners with Chelan Youth Football to run a concession stand, with proceeds benefiting the youth sports program.
For classic car enthusiasts, the show is also a chance to see rare models up close. Tom Oberto, a collector from Spokane, plans to bring his 1932 Ford Deuce Coupe that won Best in Show at the 2023 event. “I’ve been coming here since the first year,” Oberto said. “The setting is unbeatable – you’re looking at beautiful cars with the lake and mountains behind them. It’s a photographer’s dream.”
Safety protocols remain in place: all vehicles must be driven to the park and parked by 8:30 a.m. No re-entry is allowed after 9:30 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to bring sunscreen and chairs, as limited seating is available. The event is free to attend, with a suggested donation of $5 to support the Chamber’s community programs.
As the Fall Into Chelan Car Show reaches its 22nd year, it continues to evolve while honoring its roots. Whether you’re a gearhead, a family looking for a fun day out, or a photographer chasing golden-hour shots of chrome and steel, the show offers a unique blend of automotive heritage and lakeside charm. Mark your calendars for September 12 – and don’t forget to bring your camera.
