Ben Gallaher, the rising country-rock storyteller known for his rugged vocals and cinematic songwriting, has unveiled a fresh acoustic version of his track "Time." The new interpretation strips away the electric layers to reveal the song’s emotional core, giving fans a more intimate listening experience.
Released today (April 8, 2025), the acoustic rendition arrives as part of a larger project that Gallaher has been quietly developing. While the full details remain under wraps, sources close to the artist confirm that the acoustic "Time" is the first taste of a series of stripped-down recordings that will showcase Gallaher's versatility as a performer.
“I’ve always believed that a great song should hold up with just a voice and a guitar,” Gallaher said in a statement. “With ‘Time,’ I wanted to let the lyrics breathe, to let people hear the ache and the hope without any distractions. The electric version told one story; this one tells a different side of the same truth.”
The original "Time" — released in 2023 on Gallaher’s acclaimed album Right Where You Left Me — was a radio staple that blended driving rock riffs with heartfelt country storytelling. The acoustic version trades the full-band arrangement for a fingerpicked guitar, subtle harmonies, and a lone pedal steel that floats like a memory. The result is a track that feels both vulnerable and timeless.
Gallaher’s decision to rerecord the song came after a series of acoustic performances during his 2024 tour, where audiences responded powerfully to the stripped-down renditions. “The live shows told me that people were connecting with the song in a different way when it was just me and the guitar,” he explained. “So I went back into the studio with the same mindset — no studio tricks, just the song.”
The new project also includes a short documentary-style video, shot in Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, where Gallaher recorded the acoustic take. As of today, "Time (Acoustic)" is available on all major streaming platforms. Gallaher will also embark on a short acoustic tour in May, hitting intimate venues in Nashville, New York, and Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 11.
