SINGAPORE — October 1, 2026 — AVIS Singapore has launched a self-service kiosk at its rental locations, cutting the pick-up process to under 30 seconds. The automated system, already in service in the United Kingdom, Italy, and France, is now available to AVIS Preferred and President Club members at the company's Changi Airport and Havelock Road branches. Travelers who sign up for the free AVIS Preferred membership can verify their driver's license once, get an access link by email, and collect their keys from the kiosk without ever approaching the rental counter.
The new experience replaces the conventional rental desk with a fully automated handoff. AVIS Singapore says the kiosk is built for travelers who want to get from touchdown to wheels without waiting in line. It is available at both AVIS Singapore locations: the airport counters at Changi Airport Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, plus the downtown branch on Havelock Road.
Changi is a natural fit. The airport is routinely ranked among the best in the world, and its terminals are designed around frictionless connections. A rental pick-up that takes less than 30 seconds fits that template exactly.
The system shifts the work ahead of the flight:
That removes the two biggest slowdowns in car rental — paperwork and queueing. For anyone arriving off a long-haul flight, that's more than convenience; it's a real time return.
Speed aside, the kiosk changes the rental relationship:
The kiosk is available through AVIS Preferred or President Club, and AVIS Preferred is free to join. The program is aimed at travelers who treat time as seriously as they treat the destination. Beyond kiosk access, members get:
The perks accumulate with every reservation — a short city rental or a long-term hire alike. For regular renters, the membership is simple math: join once, benefit everywhere.
Singapore is one of the most frequent long-haul destinations for American business and leisure travelers. The Avis network already follows those passengers around the globe. AVIS Singapore has been part of the Avis Budget Group since 1961 and leads the local rental market, while the group itself generates more than $12 billion in revenue across 180 countries.
For U.S. road warriors, the practical takeaway: an existing AVIS Preferred membership is already valid for the Singapore kiosk, and new members can register free on the AVIS Singapore website. The one-time license check can be done from anywhere — meaning a traveler can fly into Singapore with the express pick-up ready before wheels touch down.
The launch also positions Singapore as a technology testbed for the region. After successful rollouts in Europe, Asia now has its first AVIS self-service market, and that suggests where the group is likely to invest next.
Airlines moved to self-service check-in years ago. Hotels followed with mobile check-in and digital keys. Car rental has been slower to change — but the bottleneck has always been at the counter, where documents and contracts create natural waiting points.
The AVIS kiosk gets past that bottleneck:
The traditional counter doesn't disappear. AVIS Singapore is adding an option — not removing one.
The Singapore kiosk is part of a broader push by Avis Budget Group toward digital, automated mobility. With its stated focus on innovation, customer focus, and sustainable mobility, the group has shown a willingness to roll technology out where travelers need it most. Asia's busiest routes — from Tokyo to Sydney — are likely watching how Singapore performs.
For now, the message for travelers is straightforward: book, verify, and pick up — no counter required. More details are available on the AVIS Singapore website.
