Event returns to Gresham on Sept. 13, 2026, with car displays, auctions, and support for local charities.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, when the popular Cruisin' with the Cops car show and community celebration rolls back into Gresham. The event, held at the former K-Mart parking lot at 440 N.W. Burnside Road, runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine. Organizers expect a diverse lineup of vehicles — from antiques, customs, and vintage classics to daily drivers, trucks, and oddities — ensuring something for every automotive enthusiast.

A show born from a community need

Cruisin' with the Cops was created as a successor to the large car shows that once filled downtown Gresham. After those shows faded, a group of local “car guys” recognized a gap and launched this event in partnership with the Gresham Police Officers’ Association. Since then, the show has grown steadily each year, drawing participants and spectators from across the region.

“We saw an opportunity to bring car lovers together while honoring those who serve our community,” said a spokesperson for the Gresham Police Officers’ Association. “Every year, the turnout proves that people care deeply about both the cars and the cause.”

Registration, awards, and special perks

Vehicle registration is $20 on the day of the show, with no pre-registration required. High school students and law enforcement officers can enter for free. There are no formal categories or classes — the show embraces all types of vehicles equally. The first 300 entries receive dash plaques, and trophies go to winners chosen by attendee vote and organizer selection.

This year, organizers have added a new “People’s Choice” award, giving attendees a direct say in recognizing their favorite vehicle, a feature that was introduced after feedback from last year’s participants.

Honoring first responders and remembering 9/11

A central part of the event is the 9/11 tribute and celebration of all first responders — police, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. The tribute will include a moment of silence at 9:11 a.m., followed by a display of emergency vehicles and a flag ceremony. The show’s co-host, the Gresham Police Officers’ Association, ensures that the day remains focused on gratitude and community unity.

Beyond the cars: auctions, music, and food

Beyond the vehicle displays, attendees can enjoy a silent auction featuring dozens of prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and vendor booths offering food and interactive activities. A DJ/MC duo will provide live music throughout the day, and Cruisin’ with the Cops merchandise — including T-shirts and hats — will be available for purchase.

Children can participate in a free face-painting station, a new addition for 2026, sponsored by a local art studio.

Giving back to the community

Admission to the event is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to SnowCap Community Services, which serves families in need across East Multnomah County.

The show’s primary purpose is fundraising. In 2025, the event distributed $10,000 among five local nonprofits: Oregon Beat the Heat Racing, My Father’s House, Pink Sistas, Respond Life, and Trauma Intervention Program Northwest. For 2026, the goal is to double that amount to $20,000. Organizers are already securing additional sponsors and raffle prizes to reach this target.

“The support from the community has been incredible,” said the event coordinator. “We are confident that with the help of our sponsors, we can make an even bigger impact this year.”

Sponsors power the event

The show is made possible by presenting sponsors including Alyson Leigh Huntting, Gresham Ford, Riverview Bank, Dayspring Trailers, Gresham Police Officers’ Association, Mt. Hood Glass, Washman, Weston Dealerships, Gresham Toyota, Mark’s Point S Tire, and Hollywood Signs & Graphics. Several local businesses have also contributed in-kind donations for the silent auction and raffle.
