How Often Should Refrigerant Be Recharged in a Car's Air Conditioning System?
1 Answers
In daily vehicle use, the frequency of refrigerant recharge varies depending on mileage and road conditions. Some cars may not require refrigerant recharge for ten years and still function normally, while others may need it in a short time due to various reasons. These reasons can be categorized into the following three types: 1. Vehicle Collision: If a vehicle is involved in a collision that damages the air conditioning system components, causing refrigerant leakage, a refrigerant recharge is necessary after repairs or replacement of new parts. 2. Natural Component Failure: If components of the air conditioning system, such as the compressor or expansion valve, fail during use, replacement of new parts is required during repairs. In such cases, a refrigerant recharge is also needed after the repair. 3. Poor Heat Dissipation: During air conditioning use, poor heat dissipation can lead to excessive system pressure, causing refrigerant to be discharged through the pressure relief valve on the compressor or dryer tank, or even resulting in air conditioning system leaks. After repairs, if the air conditioning does not cool, a refrigerant recharge is also required.
